Swish casino: a newcomer's guide to depositing and withdrawing with Swish
You already swish your friends. Here is what changes when the recipient is a casino: who sets the limits, why withdrawals need a separate service, and what the Swedish screens are asking you to approve.
Short answer: At a Swish casino you deposit straight from your Swedish bank account: choose Swish in the cashier, approve in the Swish app with BankID, and the balance appears in your player account. Withdrawing by Swish only works if the casino has a separate payout service, Swish Utbetalningar. How much you can send by Swish is decided by your bank, not by the casino.
For most people who move to Sweden, Swish is one of the first things they set up once they have a bank account and BankID. Within weeks it becomes the default way to split a bill, buy something second-hand or send money to a friend. So it is natural to look for a Swish casino too. Depositing at a Swish casino is quick and needs no card details.
The question newcomers ask most is the reverse: if I deposit with Swish, does my money come back the same way? At one Swish casino the answer is yes, at another it is no. This Swish casino guide explains why, walks through a deposit screen by screen, and covers the limits and the Swedish words you will meet along the way.

What is Swish, if you did not grow up with it?
Swish is not an e-wallet and not a separate account where money sits. It is a way of moving money between Swedish bank accounts using a phone number. Your number is linked to your own bank account, and when you swish, the money leaves that account in real time. Before anything is sent, you check the recipient's name and number and approve with BankID.
The service is run by Getswish AB, which is owned by six banks: Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Länsförsäkringar, Nordea, SEB and Swedbank. It launched on 12 December 2012, businesses and organisations could start using it in the summer of 2014, and payouts from businesses to customers arrived in 2021. According to Swish's own statistics, it has 8,900,000 private users.

You will also hear it used as a verb. Swisha means to send money by Swish, so "jag swishar dig" is simply "I'll swish you". One more thing that surprises newcomers: each bank decides its own offers, terms and any fees for Swish. What you can do with Swish at one bank is not always exactly the same at another.
How do you deposit at a Swish casino, screen by screen?
The flow looks much the same at every Swish casino. Only the look of the cashier changes.
- Check your set-up. You need the Swish app linked to your account and Mobilt BankID, either on the same phone or on another device.
- Open the cashier (kassan) and choose Swish. Enter the amount. Note the minimum and maximum the cashier shows, and whether it mentions any fee (avgift).
- Approve in the Swish app. On a phone, the Swish app usually opens by itself. On a computer, you often type your mobile number and then approve on your phone.
- Check the recipient and sign with BankID. The name shown may be the company behind the casino or its payment provider, not necessarily the brand you see on the website.
- Go back to the casino. The balance should update shortly. If it does not, do not send the money again: check the history in the Swish app first.
If BankID is set to Swedish, two words tell you what you are being asked to do: legitimera means to identify yourself, as when you log in, and signera means to sign, as when you approve a payment. Nothing is sent until you have signed, so if anything on the screen looks unfamiliar, cancel and start again from the cashier.

Why does Swish work for deposits but not always for withdrawals?
This is the single most important thing to understand about any Swish casino. Receiving money from customers and sending money to customers are two different Swish services. To send withdrawals by Swish, a business needs Swish Utbetalningar. According to Swish, the business gets the agreement through its bank and then connects its own system to Swish through an API.
A Swish casino that only has the agreement for receiving money can let you deposit with Swish but cannot send your winnings back the same way. In that case the withdrawal goes out by another method, such as Trustly or an ordinary bank transfer to your account.
Swish itself names gambling winnings as one of the uses for its payout service, describing it as quick and smooth withdrawals. That is why many players look for a casino with Swish payouts, not just Swish deposits. But not every casino does, and the deposit page will not tell you.
How to find out yourself: open the cashier, switch to the withdrawal tab (uttag) and see whether Swish is listed there. Seeing Swish on the deposit tab (insättning) says nothing about withdrawals. If you cannot tell, ask support before you deposit.

What happens when a Swish casino pays out?
At a casino with Swish Utbetalningar, you choose Swish in the withdrawal tab and enter the amount. The money goes to the bank account linked to your mobile number. Swish says a payout reaches the recipient within a few seconds.
Those seconds only start once the casino has sent the payment, though. Before that, the withdrawal has to be approved, which can take anything from a moment to much longer, especially if the casino wants documents or a bonus is still active. That is why our tests record three moments: when the withdrawal was requested, when the casino approved it and when the money showed up in the bank app. More on what drives that time is in our fast withdrawal casino guide, and the full method is on how we test (in Swedish).
One practical tip for newcomers: the phone number in your player account should be the same number that is linked to Swish and to your own bank account. If you kept a number from your home country on your Swish casino profile but use a Swedish number for Swish, update it first. When details do not match, the casino may hold the withdrawal while it checks.
How much can you deposit at a Swish casino?
Three separate limits can affect a deposit at a Swish casino, and the lowest one wins.
- Your bank's Swish limit (beloppsgräns). Swish says the rules on maximum amounts, and on how much you can swish in a week, vary between banks. You see and change your limit in your bank app or online bank.
- The Swish casino's own limits. The cashier usually shows a minimum and maximum per deposit.
- Your deposit limit (insättningsgräns). Every Swedish-licensed casino requires you to set one per day, week and month. Lowering it applies at once; raising it applies after 72 hours at the earliest.
The two most confusing ones are the first and the last, because they do not know about each other. Your bank's limit covers everything you swish: friends, shops, casinos. If you have swished a lot this week, Swish may stop a deposit even though you have room under your casino limit. The reverse also happens: if you have reached your deposit limit, the casino stops the deposit in the cashier before the Swish app even opens. Deposit limits also apply per operator, so accounts at three casinos mean three separate limits, while your bank's Swish limit is shared across everything.

If you keep hitting the ceiling, it may be a moment to think about whether the limit is right where it is, rather than to raise it.
Swish casino vs Trustly and other methods: how do they compare?
Even at a Swish casino there are usually several methods to choose from. Here is how Swish compares with the most common alternatives in Sweden.
| Method | Where you approve | Withdrawals | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swish | In the Swish app, with BankID | Only with Swish Utbetalningar | Amount limit set by your bank |
| Trustly | By logging in to your online bank | Can go back to the same bank account | Also runs Pay N Play, where account and deposit are one step |
| Zimpler / Brite | Through your bank | Zimpler offers instant payouts; Brite moves money directly between bank accounts | No card details needed |
| Bank transfer | In your online bank | To your account number | Can wait for the next banking day |
| Debit card | Card number in the cashier | Back to the card | Credit cards are covered by the credit ban from 1 May 2026 |
The main practical difference between Swish and Trustly is where you approve. With Swish it happens in the Swish app; with Trustly you log in to your bank. Trustly also offers Pay N Play, where you do not register in advance: you log in through your bank and are identified as you deposit. Trustly Group AB is a Swedish payment institution supervised by Finansinspektionen, as are Zimpler and Brite.
On cards: since 1 May 2026, Swedish-licensed operators may not allow or help gambling to be financed with credit, and that includes credit cards and other consumer credit. A debit card drawing on your own money is not credit. For many newcomers, though, Swish or a bank-based method is simply the more natural choice once a Swedish account is set up.
What do you see in the Swish app and your bank app afterwards?
A Swish deposit shows up in two places: the Swish app's history and the transaction list of your bank account. Both show the recipient's name, the amount and the time. The name is the one you approved with BankID, and it is often the company that runs the casino or a payment provider acting for it rather than the brand name.
That is normal, but it can be confusing later when you go through your statement, especially if you have accounts at more than one Swish casino. Get into the habit of noting the name, or saving the receipt in the Swish app. A Swish withdrawal works the other way round: the money arrives in the account linked to your number, with the casino's company or its payment provider as sender. In our tests, that line in the bank app is the moment we record as received.
Swish casino or Pay N Play: what changes at sign-up?
Newcomers often meet two kinds of cashier and are not sure how they differ. At a Swish casino without Pay N Play, you normally create your player account first, identify yourself and set your deposit limit, and only then choose Swish in the cashier. The Swish payment is a separate step that you approve in the Swish app.
Pay N Play is Trustly's way of combining account creation and payment in the same flow using open banking. You log in to your own bank, your identity is verified as you deposit, and the player account is created along the way. Some casinos offer both, so you may see Swish and Trustly side by side in the same cashier.
Neither route skips the rules that apply at every Swedish-licensed site. The operator still checks you against Spelpaus at registration, you still set a deposit limit, and a bonus may still only be offered the first time you play there. The difference is mainly in how many screens you click through before your first deposit, and in where you approve it: in the Swish app or in your online bank.
New bank, new number: Swish details that trip up newcomers
Swish is tied to two things, your phone number and your Swedish bank account, and a casino deposit only works when both are in place. If your casino profile still shows a phone number from your home country, change it to the number you use for Swish, the one linked to your Swedish bank account, so that the details on your Swish casino account match.
Changing bank can also change how Swish feels in daily use. Each bank sets its own offers, terms and any fees for Swish, and the rules on maximum amounts vary between banks. If you move your salary account to a new bank and Swish suddenly stops a deposit you made easily last month, check the limit in your new bank's app before you assume the casino is the problem.
Finally, remember that Swish always shows you who you are paying. Before you sign with BankID, check the recipient's name and number. At a casino with Swish, the name may be the company behind the site or its payment provider. If it looks completely unrelated, cancel the payment and ask support first.
Swish payment did not go through: what now?
- Bank limit reached. You may have hit your bank's daily or weekly Swish limit. Check in your bank app.
- Deposit limit reached. The casino stops the deposit before it reaches Swish.
- Request timed out. If you do not sign in time, the payment request can expire. Start again from the cashier.
- Wrong number. Make sure the number you typed is the one linked to Swish, not an old foreign number.
- Money left your account but the balance has not changed. Do not send it again. Check the Swish history, take a screenshot and contact support with the date, time and amount.
- Swish is missing from the cashier. Not every site is a Swish casino, and some show it for deposits only.
If you get stuck on the Swish casino's side, your bank can usually see whether the payment went through. The help pages on swish.nu also answer common questions about limits and payments.
Frequently asked questions
Which Swish casino is best?
That depends on what matters to you. We only publish results from casinos where we have deposited and timed the withdrawal ourselves, with the method and date, and the list grows as tests are completed.
Can I withdraw with Swish at a casino?
Yes, if the Swish casino also has Swish Utbetalningar. Otherwise the withdrawal goes out by another method, such as Trustly or bank transfer. Check the withdrawal tab in the cashier before you deposit.
Can I use Swish without a Swedish bank account?
No. Swish works by linking your phone number to your own bank account, and you approve with BankID, which requires a Swedish personnummer and an account at a bank that issues it.
Do I need BankID to swish to a casino?
Yes. Every Swish payment is approved with BankID, whoever the recipient is. That is how Swish works, not a casino rule.
Does it cost anything to deposit with Swish?
Each bank sets its own terms and any fees for Swish, and casino fees, if any, should be shown in the cashier or the terms. We always note if a test deposit cost anything.
Why does the Swish app show a different name from the casino?
The recipient may be the company that runs the casino or its payment provider. If the name looks completely unrelated, cancel and ask support before you approve.
